During the Nisyros Dialogues 2023 Conference on the island of Nisyros, the Mihalos Foundation NPO, represented by its Chairman Panagiotis (Peter) G. Mihalos, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Elliniko-Argyroupoli Mayor and President of the Association for the Protection of Mount Hymettus (SPAY), Giannis Konstantatos, for the Foundation to transfer the Association's knowhow and implement initiatives concerning island and interisland trail networks and the protection of the environment. The initiatives aim at the protection of the trails and the environment not only on Nisyros, but across all of the country’s islands.

The difficult period we are going through brings us to unprecedented situations for our time that call for immediate, dynamic and effective solutions. The time to realize the effects of climate change, climate crisis, and changes for a viable and sustainable future is "NOW"!

The Memorandum of Cooperation is in the framework of collaborations for the Foundation, and further to the Memorandum of Cooperation signed with the Natural Environment and Climate Change Organization (N.E.C.C.A.) in April 2022.

And in the framework of its charter, to contribute dynamically to the creation of proposals and solutions, in matters of Energy, Environment, and Development of Local Societies, especially in the small islands of the Aegean, being a leading body for the circulation of ideas and, a catalyst for the promotion of partnerships for sustainability in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The two agencies, having common goals in matters of forest protection, sustainability and green development, proceeded in the joint effort and cooperation, believing that through such essential synergies the best solutions are found.

We believe that the cooperation of the two bodies is necessary for the creation of modern and effective proposals, with the aim of protecting nature, creating Green Structured Societies, promoting environmental education and creating a generation of "Young Leaders", who will be the guardian angels of a Sustainable Land, especially in the small barren and outermost islands of the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean.

The signing of the memorandum took place "yesterday" and already "today" we are discussing and planning the actions that will be carried out together, because "Tomorrow is decided today".
