Nisyros Dialogues 2026: Announcing This Year's Theme

The Georgios M. Mihalos Foundation is proud to announce the theme of the “Nisyros Dialogues® 2026”, taking place 2–5 July 2026 on the island of Nisyros.

The Eastern Mediterranean in a State of Strategic Confrontation

War, Realignment and the Making of a New Security & Energy Architecture

Defence · Maritime Security & Safe Navigation · Energy Security · Alliances · Geopolitical Realignments · Deterrence

The Eastern Mediterranean has evolved into a region of global strategic gravity. What was once defined by latent tensions and gradual transitions has shifted into a state of active strategic confrontation — and the 4th Nisyros Dialogues® are designed to meet this moment head on.

The escalation of war, the destabilization of critical trade and energy corridors, and the rising militarization of the region are accelerating a systemic reordering of power. Responses across Eastern Mediterranean states — from assertive posturing to deepening alliances — are shaping a new, fluid regional architecture that demands serious, high-level analysis.

This year's Dialogues will address the questions that define the new regional reality: Is the Eastern Mediterranean entering a prolonged phase of strategic confrontation, or moving toward a new equilibrium? Can energy cooperation act as a stabilizing force, or will it become another axis of competition? How can Europe, and Greece in particular, translate geopolitical pressure into strategic opportunity and resilience?

True to the spirit of the Nisyros Dialogues®, the gathering will not stop at mapping developments. It will seek to decode the transformation of the Eastern Mediterranean from a periphery of competing interests into a core strategic hub for Europe and global security — where energy, defence, and maritime security define the new balance of power.

The “Nisyros Dialogues® 2026” are held under the auspices of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Konstantinos An. Tassoulas, and under the permanent auspices of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

👉Speaker announcements, programme details, and registration information will follow shortly.
