Dr. Elias Lekkos is an accomplished banking executive with over two decades of leadership experience across central banking, macroeconomic analysis, investment strategy, and credit risk management. He currently serves as Group Chief Economist and Head of Investment Strategy at Piraeus, where he oversees macroeconomic forecasting and asset allocation at the group level. His earlier career spans key roles at the Bank of England, HBOS Treasury Services, Standard & Poor’s and Eurobank.

Dr. Lekkos holds several high-profile advisory positions, including Chairman of the Advisory Committee to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), Vice-Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors at the Hellenic Bank Association, and Board Member at the Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research (IOBE). He also contributes to strategic committees within academic institutions and pension funds, and is an active member of the Institute of International Finance’s Market Monitoring Group.

He earned a PhD in Finance from the University of Lancaster, an MSc in Economics and Finance from the University of Warwick, and a BSc in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business. Dr. Lekkos has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and regularly provides expert commentary to international and Greek media outlets, including Bloomberg, CNBC, and ERT News.
