Ambassador (hon.) Dimitrios Paraskevopoulos was born in Athens in 1952.
He is a graduate of the Law School of the University of Athens.

In 1979, he joined the Hellenic Diplomatic Service and initially served as an Attaché at the Central Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During his diplomatic career, he served in the following posts:

  • Secretary of Embassy / Counsellor of Embassy (Norway, Turkey, the Netherlands)
  • Political Affairs Service of Thrace
  • Diplomatic Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (1981–1989)
  • Minister Plenipotentiary, Director of the Diplomatic Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (2000)
  • Ambassador to Moscow (2002–2005)
  • Director of the Diplomatic Office of the Prime Minister (2009–2012)
    Head of the Task Force for the organization of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union (2012–2013)
  • Director General for Political Affairs (2013–2015)
  • Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2015–2019)

Ambassador Dimitrios Paraskevopoulos has been awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Phoenix and has received decorations and honorary distinctions from Italy, France, Norway, Russia, and the Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

He speaks English and French.
