About «Nisyros Dialogues®»
The «Nisyros Dialogues – Bridging the East Med» are created, organized and carried out by the "Georgios M. Mihalos Foundation – Sustainability of Nisyros" NPO, to produce and promote ideas and projects aimed at highlighting and promoting the Eastern Mediterranean as a region of Sustainable Development, Cultural Understanding, and International Cooperation.
Episode 1: Shifts in the Eastern Mediterranean – Challenges and Prospects
The first episode of the new series “The Podcast” by “The Dialogues of Nisyros”, hosted by renowned journalist and analyst Pavlos Tsimas, is now live!
In this opening episode, and just a few hours before this year’s “Dialogues of Nisyros”® begin, Member of the European Parliament and Vice-President of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, Giannis Maniatis, joins Pavlos Tsimas to discuss the latest geopolitical developments in the Eastern Mediterranean: from strategic alliances and energy-related conflicts to the new reality shaped by technological, environmental and military shifts across the region.
Through “The Podcast”, we bring forward the timely issues highlighted in the “Dialogues” along with the perspectives of key contributors, extending the conversation throughout the year.
Europe & Eastern Mediterranean: Geopolitics | Energy | Insularity
The "Nisyros Dialogues 2024" were held on 4 - 7 July, at the volcano of the island, under the auspices of the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou and the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
The Dialogues were held under the central theme "Europe & Eastern Mediterranean: Geopolitics - Energy - Insularity", and concluded with important government announcements and strong messages for island sustainability, such as the announcement of the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on the inclusion of Nisyros in the GR-eco islands.
